Development history
In 1914，GSD was founded by the overseas Chinese businessman Mr. Tan Liting at the west coast of Guangzhou South Stone
On 1 August 1954, Guangzhou shipyard, the predecessor of the company ,was founded.
In 1985, the company introduced and adopted advanced management and shipbuilding technology via its technical cooperation with IHI shipyard in Japan.
On June 7 1993, Guangzhou shipyard international Company Limited ("GSI") was founded and became the first listed shipbuilding corporation nationwide
In 2006, GSI has developed to be the largest shipbuilding company of handy-size tankers in China
In 2014，GSI acquired CSSC Guangzhou Longxue Shipbuilding Company Limited.
In 2015, GSI acquired CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Limited.
On 11 May 2015, GSI was renamed CSSC Offshore & Marine Engineering (Group) Company Limited ("COMEC").
On 29 December 2015, the shareholders' general meeting was held and approved the following resolution: COMEC would transfer its whole physical business and assets to its wholly-owned subsidiary "Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited" with a base date 31 December 2015.
In 2016, COMEC has officially been operated as a platform holding company.
